Broadband Issues

Try restarting your router or connecting directly via Ethernet. Contact us if the issue persists.

Check for any background downloads or streaming on other devices that might be affecting your speed.

Before making any changes, it’s crucial to know your starting point and whether this changes during the day depending on how many people are using it. Simply click the “Go” button, and within seconds, you’ll have your current download and upload speeds.

Sometimes, slow internet speeds can be attributed to your equipment or setup. Start by checking your modem and router. Ensure they are up to date and compatible with your internet plan. If they’re outdated, consider upgrading to newer models that support faster speeds. Additionally, check the placement of your router. It should be positioned in a central location, away from obstructions, to ensure maximum coverage.

Interference from other electronic devices can also impact your internet speed. Keep your router away from cordless phones, baby monitors, and other wireless devices that operate on similar frequencies. These devices can cause signal interference, leading to slower speeds. By minimising interference, you’ll optimise your internet connection and enjoy faster browsing and streaming.

Unwanted guests on your network can slow down your internet. Make sure you have set up password protection.

The lights on your router indicate different statuses of your connection; we would expect to see solid green lights on the Power and Broadband lights as these will indicate a steady connection. Your Internet, Ethernet and Wireless lights all flicker green to indicate that they are transmitting data to/from devices.

You should see a button on the rear panel of your router located near the power cable input. Simply press this once to turn off and again to turn back on, restarts are best carried out for a period of 30-60 seconds.

You may be asked to reset your router, this will usually require a small thin tool such as a paperclip to depress the small Reset button for up to 60 seconds, note that this will factory reset your router so should only be carried out if asked to do so.
